Kylie Cosmetics Birthday Collection Review

I have received my Birthday Collection Bundle from Kylie Cosmetics last week and I have been able to test out most of the products. Since Kylie announced that she will restock the bundle one more time because of high demand, I thought it was the perfect moment to upload the review on the entire collection. This way you can see swatches of each product and know what is worth and what is not.

Unfortunately this time only the mini mattes and the creme shadows will be available separately, so you have to buy the complete collection if you want some of the other products. The restock is TOMORROW Wednesday 31st at 3 pm Pacific time, however I will post the different time zones on my Instagram page tomorrow before the restock.

The Birthday Edition is the limited edition collection that Kylie launched for her birthday at the beginning of this month and it includes eight products plus a makeup bag. The price of the bundle is 195 $ and it is a great deal if you consider that buying all the products separately would be 221 $. I am starting with eyes products and then lips products.

KYLINER: the kyliner is a kit with a gel eyeliner, a pencil eyeliner and an angled brush. The shade proposed for this collection is Dark Bronze which is a bronzy brown with glitters. The gel eyeliner comes in a little glass pot with a gold lid. It is very creamy, it applies smoothly and the color is very beautiful too. The glitters are not too visible so it would be a great everyday liner if you opt for something different than the classic black liner. The pencil eyeliner is exactly the same formula as her lip liners, that is very creamy and easy to apply. I found that it stays on quite a long time if applied on the lower lash line but it lasts less if applied on the waterline. It's probably because that is a watery zone and the color tends to fade. The brush has soft bristles and it is the perfect shape for an eyeliner brush but it's a bit too thick. It doesn't let you shape the line the way you want because the bristles are not thin enough. All in all the kit is very high quality, the only thing a bit disappointing is the brush. Anyways I highly recommend it.

CREME SHADOWS: two metallic eyeshadows in a creme formula in shades Copper and Rose Gold. They come in a pot like the gel eyeliner one but it is bigger. The formula is very creamy and pigmented as well, you don't need a lot of product to cover your eyelid. It applies very smoothly and it is easy to blend. The copper is perfect with warm nude eye looks and it is my favorite of the two. I like the rose gold too but I would not reach for it as often as for the copper because I am not obsessed with rose eyeshadows. I recommend them both for the quality and the price. These ones will be also available separately for 20 $ each.

LEO LIPKIT: this is the special lipkit created for the collection is shade Leo. The packaging is the usual lipkit packaging but it is completely gold with black on the sides. It includes the liquid lipstick and the lip liner. The tube of the liquid lipstick is gold too instead of the usual black. The shade Leo is a beautiful burgundy, the color I was waiting since she released her first lipkits. I LOVE burgundy and this color is gorgeous. As for the formula I think she has changed it again and improved. It is a lot more hydrating on the lips and even more lightweight. I compared it to the Skylie and Freedom lipkits and they were more drying. It doesn't even feel like wearing lipstick. The lip liner is always the same formula as the old ones. Quality-wise I think it is even better than the old lipkits, as for the color is personal. It depends if you like this kind of shade. Highly recommended.

LORD METAL: another known product but in a new, limited edition shade. The metals category normally includes King K, Heir, Reign and KyMajesty. I did a complete review on them last month and you can check it out here. The packaging is the normal packaging but gold and black and the tube of the lipstick is gold as well. The shade is a true bright gold, very different from King K which is less bright and more browny and coppery.
The formula is called matte but it doesn't dry completely matte as the liquid lipsticks. It is very moussy and it stains but it can stay on for quite a long time. This is not one of my favorite type of products because I prefer matte lipsticks that don't stain. The color is beautiful but it looks different on every skin tone and it is not very wearable. For these reasons I would not recommend it.

POPPIN GLOSS: again same packaging as the classic glosses but gold and black with the tube of the gloss gold too. The brush is the same as the glosses and not the one of the mattes. If you're interested, I also did a review on the first three glosses Like, Literally and So Cute that you can find here. The formula is always the same glossy and hydrating, and it is not sticky at all. As for the color it is another bright and yellowy gold like the metal one, so not really wearable. This is probably the product I like the least from the entire collection.

MINI MATTES: this is a "kit" that includes six liquid lipsticks in a mini size. It features the best-selling Exposed, Dolce K, Koko K, Candy K, the new Kristen and the limited edition Leo. The packaging is gold and black like all the other products and each lipstick has 0.65 ml / 0.02 fl oz that is about a third of the normal size. However it is a great option if you have never bought any lipkits and you would like to try out some colors. You get six different shades to test and you can see which shades you like the most before buying a standard lipkit. The formula is the same as Leo, that is more hydrating and lightweight. This will be available separately too for 36 $.

MAKEUP BAG: this makeup bag has her logo outside on the front and the zipper has her K. It is a very great material and great overall quality. Inside you have a kind of division on one side, so you can separate your makeup products as you prefer. It is quite big and it can fit a great quantity of makeup.

Overall it is a great collection with good products that I highly recommend. The only two products that I don't like are the gloss and the metal but just because of the color. However it is a great purchase, if you can't buy the entire collection I would suggest you to buy the mini mattes because you get five shades of the permanent collection and also the limited edition matte.
Down here you can see all the swatches of each product:
  • Kyliner with flash and without
  • Creme Shadows
  • Leo Lipkit
  • Lord
  • Poppin'

Do you have any of the limited edition products and what do you think about it? Or would you like to get any of them from tomorrow's restock? I hope this can be helpful if you want to buy something tomorrow when she restocks the collection. Have a great day loves, see you soon.
